Case 39

After a crazy weekend out of town, my friends and I weren’t ready to part ways so we decided to watch a movie.

“Princess and the Frog?”
“Nah.”
“But it’s Disney’s first African American princess!”
“Yes, and look at what they did to her – they turned her into a frog!”

So we ended up watching Case 39.

Never mind that the movie only got 11% on Rotten Tomatoes. To us, the movie had two selling points. One, Renee Zellweger (I love Renee Zellweger – so much that I actually sat through New In Town). And two, they said the movie was freaky like Orphan.

It’s true.

Case 39 is freaky. So freaky that while we were in the cinema, Giff threatened to put his iPod on and tune out. So freaky that while we were walking to the car in the parking lot, someone’s car headlights turned on and I flinched, thinking we were about to get hit.

The next day, I thought it would be funny to freak my friends out a little by texting a line from the movie. Their response was hilarious.

First, there was J.

Me: “What are you doing there, you pumpkin head?”
Jason: “Waaa scary ka! Sumilip ako sa pinto.”
Me: “Why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily”
Jason: “Waaaa freaky na, stop it!!!”

Then came Giff.

Me: “What are you doing there, you pumpkin head?”
Giff: “Ack! Get away from meeee!”
Me: “Why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily why emily”
Giff: “You are not going back to group session anymore!!”
Me: “Are you scared? You should be.”
Giff: “GET. OUT. OF. MY. HOUSE!”
Me: “That was mean.”
Giff: “Vrroooooom… Vrooooom… This is not real.. Eeeeeeeeeek! Are you scared?!”
Me: “No! Rawr! You really shouldn’t leave me at home, emily.”
Giff: “Lech. Di ko na alam isasagot ko. Lol.”
Me: “Hahahahahahahahaha!”

Yes, my friends are crazy. And yes, this post will make more sense if you actually watched Case 39.
