You entered our world much like 2010 did, amid a flurry of fireworks and stomachs so full we thought they would burst.
We had no idea what you would bring, no clue of the insane roller coaster ride you would take us on.
Some days you were kind, some days you were cruel. Some days we found easy, other days we seriously wondered if we would survive.
There were weeks when we loved you and weeks when we hated you. Let’s be honest – there were more weeks when we hated you.
You and your floods and your deaths and your violence and your ugliness and your slaps on the face – can you blame us for not being fans? Can you blame us for not being sad to see you go?
Goodbye, 2009. We won’t miss you.
But maybe we do have one thing to thank you for. You showed us just how strong we are.
We’re strong enough to kick you in the ass as you go. And we’re strong enough to have complete faith that 2010 will be much better, much kinder, much more beautiful than you.
